After the most unexpected terror attacks ever seen, happened in Mumbai on the 26th of November people of Mumbai and India are shaken up. Day 3 was expected to be all Australia and it indeed was. But they did not get off to the greatest of starts. Aussies dominate Day 2!!

Much was expected from the McCullum Vettori pair to redeem New Zealands hopes in the Second Test at Adelaide. But they disappointed and Australia ripped through the tail for just 8 runs, the major damage being done by Lee who picked up 4 in total. New Zealand were bowled out for 270 runs. The day 4 of the test match dint have much play left in it. Australia were all set for a big victory. All hopes rested on the Taylor and Vettori pair but they did not last long. Johnson removed both Taylor and Vettori and it was game over for the Kiwis. It was just a matter of time before the Kiwis would get bowled out. The third day promised a lot from the Kiwis but as usual they let the game slip away from them. Both Katich and Haddin started cautiously and added some useful runs. The Trans Tasmanian rivalry has always been there between New Zealand and Australia. The Chappel Hadlee series commenced today with the first Test at Gabba. Early showers caused the start to be delayed. New Zealand won the toss and Vettori wanted to make use of the fresh wicket and sent Australia in. The New Zealand seamers started beautifully hitting the seam on regular occassions. Soon Australia were reduced to 23 for 3 with Hayden, Katich and Ponting all falling to Southee. Then Clarke and Hussey tried to consolidate. They went into lunch with the score at 60 for 3. Just when one thought that both Clarke and Hussey were looking comfortable at the crease, Chris Martin got Hussey leg before wicket. Then Symonds joined in with Clarke and added a few runs before he was dismissed for 26 to a great delivery by O Brein. Australia's batting woes continued as they struggled to build partnership. Watson, Haddin and Lee all fell cheaply. Clarke was playing the innings of his life. He along with the tail enders took the score past 200. Stuart Clark was giving him good company at the other end. M.N.Nambiar dies!!

When I started watching cinema I knew about villains like Raghuvaran, Prakash Raj, etc. but then I heard my dad saying that Nambiar was the best villain of all times. I then started seeing his movies and realized that he was really great. M.G.R-Nambiar fights were a treat to the eyes. What is striking about Nambiar is that he has acted with five generations of stars, from MGR to Vijay. Although he played the bad guy in the movies, he was a very simple and good man in his real life. He was an Ayyappa devotee and he used to visit Sabari Mala every year. This says how pure a man he was. He has acted in more than a 1000 films. He passed away this afternoon due to his old age and illness. My condolences to his family members and my salute to this great actor.

Harris and Gautham menon part ways!!

Gautham Menon and Harris Jayraj have been known for various chartbusters in Tamil Cinema. They had given hits like Minnale, Kakka Kakka, Pachaikili Muthucharam, Vettayadu Villayadu and now Vaaranam Aayiram. However they both have announced that they are ready to part ways. Harris Jayraj went on to explain why he and Gautham had parted. He said that Gautham did not give proper attention to the music during Vaaranam Aayiram. He rued that Gautham was not present during the music compositions and conveyed all that he wanted through a messenger.Harris further added that he never consulted him on certain issues regarding Vaaranam Aayiram. Kollywood had recently witnessed two actors being gifted with babies. One was the Surya-Jyo pair and the other was Ajith and Shalini. Now its actor Srikanth's turn to join this elite club. The last of the 3 finals was played on Sunday. Lahore Badshahs had won the first final while Hyderabad heroes won the second. This was meant to be the decider. Hyderabad Heroes batted first and they were not off to the best of starts as they lost Jimmy Maher in the second over. However Khaleel went on with the game and scored at quick pace. Heroes kept on losing wickets at the other end. They were 87 for 5 at one stage. Boje and Binny added on quick runs with their lusty hittings. Their final score was 158. It seemed to be a challenging total and Harris would have thought about winning the match if he could put early pressure on the Lahore Badshah players.

Imran Nazir and Farhat went to the crease with the full licence to score. Nazir played with atmost freedom. He played the innings of his life. He scored 111 of 44 balls which was indeed a match winning knock. Farhat played second fiddle to Nazir. Nazir hit 11 sixes and hit every bowler to all corners of the park. The first match between Pakistan and West Indies was played yesterday in Abu Dhabi. West Indies won the toss and had no hesitation in batting first. Gayle showed the Pakistanis why he was such a dangerous batsman. Gayle and Chattergoon added quick runs and they took the score past 100. Chattergoon was finally dismissed for 33 when the score was 125. Gayle went on to score his century in no time. He was dismissed for 113 of the bowling of Gul. Sarwan, Chanderpaul and Xavier Marshall all added quick runs and took the final score to 294. Pakistan bowled well in the death overs, otherwise it seemed that West Indies would score well past 300.

It was Pakistan's turn to bat. Salman Butt and Khurram Manzoor gave them a good start. Butt was bowled of the bowling of Baker. Younis Khan and Manzoor had a good partnership. Manzoor was finally dismissed for 69. Misbah soon followed for 7 leaving the Pakistanis at 159 for 3. Captain Shoaib Malik and Younis Khan added useful and quick runs. Younis Khan fell after his fifty. Afridi too dint last long. However Malik played beautifully and was guiding the chase pretty well. Fawad Alam gave him good company. Rush of blood sent the Pakistani captain back to the Pavillion. Pakistanis needed 33 off 3 overs and it seemed a stiff target. Alam and Akmal played well. However the match seemed almost over when Pakistan needed 16 runs of 1 over. However Akmal had other intentions. He hit 2 huge sixes of Taylor to seal the match. Pakistan won the game with just 1 ball to spare. It was indeed a thrilling finish.

Dada, The Legend retires.

The God of off side and the most stylish left hander of Indian Cricket had retired from international cricket after the last game of the Border Gavaskar series at Nagpur. Ganguly had played 113 Test matches and scored 7212 runs at an average of 42.17. He had scored 16 tons and 35 half centuries in his Test Career. He had also been a successful captain. During his period, India started winning games abroad. They did well in England, in Pakistan and even in Australia. He was an aggressive captain. Ganguly's one day career was even more exceptional. He played about 311 matches and scored over 11000 runs at an average of 41. One of his achievements as captain of the ODI team was reaching the World Cup 2003 finals. His career had a lot of hickups after Greg Chappel came as coach. He was dropped for a season and after that came back very strongly. This proved that he was a man of character. He has done many things for Indian Cricket and it will be an irrepairable loss for India.

India win series 2-0!

Australia went into day 5 with a tough task ahead. They had to score 369 runs to win with 10 wickets in hand. But as we know Australians always go for it. And as expected Hayden and Katich started in an aggressive fashion. When the score was 29 Katich spooned an Ishant Sharma delivery high up in the air and it was safely caught by Dhoni. Soon Ricky Ponting went for a silly run out and the score was 37 for 2. Clarke added on some quick runs before he was dismissed of a beauty from Ishant. It was 82 for 3 when Hussey joined Hayden. They both continued to play aggressively and took the score to 111 for 3 at lunch.

After lunch also they continued their aggressive tactics which forced Dhoni to employ some negative tactics. Hayden was playing brilliantly while Hussey was just milking the ball. Just as one thought that both Hayden and Hussey were on the verge of a great partnership Mishra got Hussey with a beauty. Soon Hayden followed for a well made 77, falling leg before to Harbhajan. It was curtains for Australia as the remaining batsmen were trying to play for a draw and all ended up returning to the pavilion. The Aussies were all out for 209 giving a 172 run victory for the Indians, who captured the Border Gavaskar series 2-0. Krejza was named the man of the match while Ishant got the man of the series.

The Game nicely set up at Nagpur!! India win is likely!!

There were not much expectations from Day 4 but this day eventually turned out to be the best one for the Aussies. India started the day quite brilliantly with both Sehwag and Vijay carrying from where they left off in the first innings. They added quick runs and got to lunch at 98 for no loss. Everyone expected that Dhoni would eventually declare at sometime but there was a twist in the second session of play.

Watson who had undone Vijay in the first innings once again got him leg before for 41. Dravid's poor perform made him Watson's second victim. Then Sehwag who was eyeing a century was dismissed to Brett Lee for 92. Laxman and Tendulkar tried to steady the ship as they did in the first innings, but eventually fell one after the other. Laxman was bowled by a beauty from Krejza. Ganguly who came into bat for the last time in his career did not last longer. Before the crowd could stop applauding his arrival to the crease they had to stand up again as he was dismissed for a duck, giving a caught and bowled chance to Krejza. Krejza was then on a hattrick. Soon Tendular followed as he was run out due to a silly mix up. At tea it looked like India would be bowled out below 200. They had gone from 116 for no loss to 166 for 6.

The post tea session belonged to India, thanks to poor captaincy by Ponting. Ponting cautios of his teams' over rate throwed the bowl to his spinners. It was all Krejza, White, Hussey and CLarke from both ends. Dhoni and Harbhajan were quite happy to knock things around and pick the odd boundary here and there. Both scored half centuries and took Indias score past 250. Once Dhoni was dismissed the tail failed to wag and India were bowled out for 295 setting a target of 382 for victory to the Aussies. Aussie openers Hayden and Katich came out knowing that they have to play just 2 or 3 overs. They eventually played out 1.3 overs in which they scored 13 runs. Australia require another 369 runs for victory while India require another 10 wickets. Who will win this game?? Will it be a draw?? With all 3 results possible it promises to be an enthralling day of Test cricket.

India have the upper hand!!

Day 3 of the Test Match was hardly fought by both the teams and eventually India ended up claiming the upper hand. Australia started the day at 189 for 2. Dhoni adopted the negative tactics to start with and had an 8-1 field for both Hussey and Katich. Runs were hard to come by but Katich however managed to score his century. Katich was finally dismissed soon after his century of the bowling of Zaheer Khan leaving Australia at 229 for 3. Australia went to lunch at 231 for 3 adding just 42 runs in the session with the loss of 1 wicket.

After lunch both Hussey and CLarke were playing cautiously before Clarke was dismissed to a beauty by Ishant. Aussies moved from 265 for 4 to 266 for 6. Hussey was undone by a sharp bit of work from debutant Vijay at short leg while Watson dragged one on to the stumps of the bowling of Harbhajan. However Haddin and White got together a 50 run partnership and took the score past the 300 mark. Haddin fell to Mishra when the score was 318. Krejza gave some support to White who was playing well on the other end. Krejza's long resistance came to an end when Sharma got him leg before. White was dismissed for 46 and soon Johnson too followed. Autsralians were all out for a score of 355.

India came out to bat with just one over remaining in the day. It was a maiden from Johnson and India went to stumps at 0 for no loss with 86 runs ahead.

Again even stevens at Nagpur!!

The second day was again a mixed bag. India started the day at 311 for 5 with Ganguly and Dhoni at the crease. They both played sensibly as well as cautiously to build the Indian first innings total. They took India past the 400 mark. They went to lunch at 404 for 5. Ganguly was on 80 and was looking for a century in his last Test. Dhoni reached his half century after lunch and was soon dismissed at the score of 422. Krejza then picked up his first 5 wicket haul when he removed Ganguly for 85. Then it was all Krejza as he picked up the remaining 3 wickets and finished off with figures of 8 for 215. India were bowled out for 441 with everything to bowl for.

The openers Matty Hayden and Katich played freely. Hayden was dismissed in the most stuoid manner as he was run out after stroking the ball to mid on only to find Vijay hitting the stumps bulls eye. Ponting came into the crease and so did Harbhajan and Ishant. They both bowled at the Australian captain who was a bit troubled. On the other hand Katich was playing with atmost freedom as he stroked the ball freely. Punter eventually fell to Harbhajan, playing similar kind of a shot to that of Sehwag. Hussey then joined Katich. Katich soon reached his half century and continued to annoy the Indians. Hussey joined in the party late in the day. The Aussies were 189 for 2 at a fairly comfortable position. Tomorrow will decide the course of the match.

Both India and Australia share the honours!!!

The fourth and the final test between India and Australia went underway in Nagpur today. Dhoni won the all important toss and had no hesitations in batting first. The openers Sehwag and Vijay started off in a brilliant fashion. They were scoring almost run a ball. Sehwag was in blistering form, as he greeted Krejza with a six and a four in his very first over. Sehwag soon reached 50. Watson picked up Vijay with a short delivery. Vijay departed for a well made 33. Debutant Krejza got his first wicket in tests, as he removed Dravid for a duck. Sehwag soon fell for a well made 66 to a big off spinner from Krejza. India moved into lunch at 122 for 3.

The post lunch session was all India. Both Tendulkar and Laxman played cautiously. Tendulkar mixed caution with aggression. Both of them reached their 50's. Laxman once again perished to a loose shot of the bowling of Krejza. India were well placed at 262 for 4 when Ganguly joined Tendulkar. Sachin was lucky twice as he got let offs from Johnson and Lee when he was in his 90's. He eventually reached his 40th ton. Australia removed Sachin after taking the new ball. Johnson removed Sachin after he had scored 109. Both Ganguly and Dhoni saw India to the stumps without any further loss. India were 311 for 5 at stumps...

Historic Win for Obama!!

Barack Obama created history by his landslide win against the Republicans. He got 364 votes to his opponents 174. With this victory he was the first African-American to become the President of the United States of America. He would take up office from January 2009. This was the biggest victory for Democrats after a long long time. The historic victory of Obama was followed by a great speech by the President who addressed the gathering at Chicago. He promised to the people that he would bring in a lot of changes to the U.S and that he would transform the entire United States. He also promised to improve the economic condition of the United States. He also put forth that he would take all the necessary steps so that it would be easy for the rest of the world to be in touch with the U.S. It was an emotional speech and it moved a lot of people out there.

ManU beat Hull City!!

United came into this match with a 2-0 victory against WestHam. On the otherhand Hullcity were thrashed 3-0 by Chelsea at home. Manchester United started the match with a brisk pace. United had most of the possession in the first 5 minutes. They took the lead early with a goal by Ronaldo which was his 3rd in 2 games. United held the ball for most of the first half and hull city looked very defensive. Hull city got a free kick and made maximum use of it by scoring a goal, Daniel Cousin the scorer. United then restored their lead through Carrick who returned from an injury. United extended their lead to 3-1 thanks to a brilliant header by Ronaldo.

In the second half united were in control as they scored their 4th goal of the night. Vidic was the goal scorer this time. Hull City then made a substitution and Mendy came in. He scored Hull city's 2nd goal with brilliant chip over Van Der Saar. Hull City then got a penalty after a mistake by Ferdinand. Geovanni stepped up and scored for Hull City. In the last 10 minutes
Hull tried to equalize but the match ended at 4-3.

Obama vs McCain. Who will get the throne??

The U.S elections are the much awaited elections and this will take place two days from now. Both Obama and McCain had been campaigning well and the final days of campaigning are on. The pre poll results seems to be favoring Obama. According to CNN-IBN a news channel in India, Obama gets 50% votes, McCain 46% and the remaining 4% are unsure.

So it promises to be a close contest. Although Obama might be leading in the pre poll results, it will be hard to tell as to who wins, until the final results are out. So lets wait and watch what happens.

Kumble Retires!!

Indian Leg Spinner, Anil Kumble announced his retirement today. He said that he has taken this decision on his own and that no one had forced him to do so. It couldn't have come at the right time as he was suffering from injuries of late and hadn't picked up much wickets recently. The big man finally had to take this decision in the 5th day of the absorbing Kotla test against Australia. Kotla, being his favorite ground, as he took 10 wickets in an innings against Pakistan.

This man had a great career. He had claimed 619 wickets in Test matches and 337 wickets in the ODI's. He was the second man in the history of cricket to pick up 10 wickets in an innings. He even had a hundred at Lords against his name, which the famous spinners like Warne and Murali failed to achieve. No one can forget the match where he came and bowled with a broken jaw and picked up the crucial wicket of Brian Lara. Yes, that sort of a man he was. A man of character and discipline. He was a great ambassador. His character and passion for cricket never died even at the age of 38, when he bowled with an injured finger with almost 11 stitches on it. This man will be hard to replace, but he will remain as a role model for many young cricketers. He was enthrusted with the captaincy post and he did a commendable job in that too. An 18 year long career had to eventually come to an end and it finally did today. I salute this man and hope he has great years ahead.

Kotla Test ends in a draw!!

The third test match between India and Australia was to be played at the Feroz Shah Kotla ground in Delhi. India's confidence was sky high as they had were one up in the series with a win at Mohali, that too with a huge margin. A win in Delhi would seal the series and everyone was expecting India to win this easily as it was a favorite ground for India and Anil Kumble. Anil won the toss and had no hesitations in batting first. India had a shaky start as they lost both Sehwag and Dravid in quick successions. Then Gambhir and Sachin came together with a 100 run stand before Tendulkar fell. Laxman joined Gambhir and it was a great day for the Indians after that. Both scored double tons and took the score past 600. India finally declared at 613 for 7. It was thought that it was game over for Australia. They had to come with a brilliant batting performance to save this Test match and that is exactly what they did.

Both the openers clicked for the first time in this series. They had a hundred run standard for the first wicket. Each and every Australian batsman contributed with the bat with all the top four batsman scoring half centuries and above. Michael Clarke went on to score a ton. He was lucky as he was dropped three times in this knock. Australia finally managed to score 577, 45 runs behind the Indians. Sehwag was the highest wicket taker as he claimed a 5 wicket haul. Indians came into bat and they lost 3 quick wickets. However the rest assured that there were no more further hickups. By this time Kumble had announced his retirement. He came into bowl for the last time as Aussies were set a target of 230. They ended up scoring 31 without the loss of any wickets and the match ended in a draw. Laxman was the man of the match. Kumble was given a fitting farewell and the match which promised a lot finally ended up being the last one for one of the legends of Indian Cricket.
