Australia went into day 5 with a tough task ahead. They had to score 369 runs to win with 10 wickets in hand. But as we know Australians always go for it. And as expected Hayden and Katich started in an aggressive fashion. When the score was 29 Katich spooned an Ishant Sharma delivery high up in the air and it was safely caught by Dhoni. Soon Ricky Ponting went for a silly run out and the score was 37 for 2. Clarke added on some quick runs before he was dismissed of a beauty from Ishant. It was 82 for 3 when Hussey joined Hayden. They both continued to play aggressively and took the score to 111 for 3 at lunch.
After lunch also they continued their aggressive tactics which forced Dhoni to employ some negative tactics. Hayden was playing brilliantly while Hussey was just milking the ball. Just as one thought that both Hayden and Hussey were on the verge of a great partnership Mishra got Hussey with a beauty. Soon Hayden followed for a well made 77, falling leg before to Harbhajan. It was curtains for Australia as the remaining batsmen were trying to play for a draw and all ended up returning to the pavilion. The Aussies were all out for 209 giving a 172 run victory for the Indians, who captured the Border Gavaskar series 2-0. Krejza was named the man of the match while Ishant got the man of the series.
