Much was expected from the McCullum Vettori pair to redeem New Zealands hopes in the Second Test at Adelaide. But they disappointed and Australia ripped through the tail for just 8 runs, the major damage being done by Lee who picked up 4 in total. New Zealand were bowled out for 270 runs. Australia went into bat with beautiful conditions to bat and made the most of it. Hayden dint start too badly as he scored 24 in no time and once again he was run out. The hero of the first test Katich did not last long as he was dismissed for 23 of the bowling of Vettori. Ponting and Hussey then made full use of the wicket as well as the weak bowling attack of the Kiwis and scored heavily. Ponting went past his 50 and was looking good for a big one. Hussey on the other end was solid as ever. However Ponting fell for 79 of the bowling of O Brien not before the partnership had added a 100 runs. Then Clarke joined with Hussey and they both played out the day without losing any more wickets. Aussies finished at 241 for 3 just 29 runs short of the Kiwis. Australia would look forward to a big lead in the first innings..
